Inclusive Pepsi Ad Not So Inclusive
Have you ever looked at a horrible mess and wondered, "how did this"? Well then remember this, "Pepsi is a horrible drink and everybody that does drink this has no idea of what they're doing in their life and should reconsider. However coke is the way to go, it gives you a plentiful amount of abs, (Trust me) everyone will start to appreciate and acknowledge you, grades will get 100 times better and you won't be such a disappointment to your parents.
Honestly, I can't really see anything wrong with this ad except for the fact that people are actually drinking Pepsi and liking it. Disgrace. I have heard that the problem with this is the fact that this ad came out during the Black Lives Matter movement. People thought this ad was oversimplifying the problem making other protests insignificant. I understand how this could be a problem, however if this was posted before the movement, all this controversy wouldn't have happened because their would be nothing wrong with it. All I can really say is, this is just a dumb soda commercial and this isn't a big deal what-so-ever.
I don't understand how something like this could attract the attention of so many people, I have looked at the comments on the video, yes where were comments that didn't like the ad, but most of the comment section was just filled with either, "I don't see any problem with this ad", or "coke is so much better". If they wanted to go for more of a non-controversial ad, they could have done this ad somewhat like the puppy-monkey-baby ad for mountain dew. It's not controversial, it's weird, entertaining, and it sells the product. With this said I'll leave you, the reader something to think about. Pepsi made this ad to try and sell it's product, but failed. The point I'm trying to make is that everyone makes mistakes (except me of course) and those mistakes should be forgiven. Everyone should learn to pop a cold one with the boys. (or girls)

Hello Christan, reading your blogpost I really appreciated your loyalty to the Coca Cola brand. Your passion for Coke really burned bright. But my dear coke loving friend, what the heck was this. Coke has never scientifically been shown to miraculously give the drinker abs as you mentioned. Nor has Coke been able to win over one's parents love and affection but good effort. I am also worried that your passion for coke has blinded from the actual topic of this blog. It seems that whenever Pepsi was mentioned you went on to diss it or go on to explain why Coke is better every single time. I think you could improve your post through elaborating on the controversy on why was it so controversial. Props on the Santa though.

ReplyDeleteThanks Christan for telling us that Coke is so much better. :')
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, I believe your thoughts summed up to this:
Christan's thoughts on this ad was that nothing was wrong with the ad. But the only problem with the ad is that it was a Pepsi ad. It was almost like the ad was intentionally bad because it was Pepsi. Coke is so much better and Is better than Pepsi.
Your thoughts for this ad are unique, I can disagree with it.
Yeah, I guess coke can give you 100 grades and many abs but I can find many things wrong with the Pepsi ad. The Pepsi ad was intended to tell the viewer that 'Pepsi resolves everything' since the protests suddenly started cheering at the police officer for drinking a Pepsi. It overall gave a bad image to social movements like Black Lives Matter. Some people see it as a 'dumb soda commercial' and I can kinda agree with that. But most people see it as an ad gone the wrong way; and that's the perspective I see the most of. I hope you can fully understand and rethink this pepsi ad and see my perspective.
Hello Christian. Thank you for saying Coke is better because I agree. I didn't really see anything wrong with this ad either, besides the fact that they're not advertising coke. I should've wrote something about coke to show my loyalty too, thanks buddy!
ReplyDeleteYou know you're right about this. Pepsi should've been careful with this ad because they didn't know that the feedback from the audience would be very negative. From the way I see it, some of these brands do not think before they publish first. This is common sense because every brand should be aware that once your advertisement or post is posted up anywhere on social media whether it'd be on youtube or whatever, it will say there. No matter if you delete it or not, someone can still save that video and re-post it on their page. This ad campaign that Pepsi made felt like a big slap to BLM's face like why would you do them like that?; making their rights movement seem unimportant? I really hope something like this does not ever happen again. With all these issues and racism and stuff, this is just getting even worse. It's bad enough that we don't have people who actually have thought for other people. I don't care if those creators be like "Oh, we didn't know that it would hurt those types of people". These guys are actually like "Let's just post this ad and we'll see what people think of it. Let's also try and hide some details so that people won't figure it out." Well these people should open their eyes in shame because of how they are thinking about the ad more than the people that will be affected by it. From the way you see the coke ad is very different from mine. You see it as a small problem and that people should crack a coke with the boys (or girls) instead. I see it as a problem for the people that got offended by it. This is okay because we all got different opinions on ads. At the end of the day, we all should be happy of what we're drinking whether it's Pepsi or Coca-Cola.
